a spiraling vulture

by kdillmanjones

Cruelty circulates,

This we know.

From me to you

a poor man’s bird flu.

China’s infected,

‘Merica erected.

Something so foul

something so fowl

Enter the voodoo

but you don’t believe

So toss it

Splinter yourself

Redeem it

As you slash us

Karma, karma

a spiraling vulture

Cruelty circulates,

This we know.

  • Author’s note: I haven’t been writing a poem a day for April (poetry month), but I feel it coursing through me as I read Sylvia Plath this month. Our local library also had Mad Girl’s Love Song, a Plath biography of her early (pre-Hughes) years. Many enjoyable hours of reading to come…
